2010 Benefits Summary: Full-time Corporate

Carter's, Inc. offers an outstanding compensation and comprehensive benefits package. From health care and insurance plans to vacations, holidays and a wide variety of savings and investment opportunities, you will find programs to suit your individual needs.

 

Medical Insurance

Carter's offers two national BlueChoice PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) medical plans to choose from:

  • Value Plan - Higher deductible and out-of-pocket expenses; lower premium
  • Premier Plan - lower deductible and out-of-pocket expenses; higher premium

 

Dental Insurance

Eligible employees may enroll in the Delta Dental Insurance Plan. The plan allows you to choose any dentist; however, your out-of-pocket cost may be lower if you choose a Delta Premier dentist. The Annual Deductible is $50; The Annual Maximum Benefit is $1,000.


Vision Plan

Eligible employees may enroll in the Vision Service Plan (VSP). You get the best value from the VSP benefit when you visit a VSP network doctor. This plan gives discounts for: Eye Exams, Frames and Contact Lenses.


Vacation Time

We offer 3 weeks of paid vacation during your first year of employment.


Paid Holidays

Employees are paid for company-observed holidays.  There are nine scheduled holidays.


Service Recognition

Recognition is awarded to employees on their anniversary dates in five year intervals. Monetary awards as well as a day off with pay are also provided.


Salary Continuation

After 5 continuous days off due to your own disability, a leave of absence must be requested. Salary continuation is provided based on your length of service at the time the leave of absence begins.


Long-Term Disability

Carter's provides Long-Term Disability Insurance at no cost to you. If you are unable to perform your regular work for more than six months, you can apply for Long-Term Disability Benefits. Upon approval by the insurance company, you will receive 60% of your basic monthly salary up to $15,000 per month, less other income benefits, including Social Security.


Employee Assistance Program

Carter's Employee Assistance Program offers you and your family free, confidential and professional counseling through LifeWorks whenever you need help dealing with the issues of daily living. This program is available to you at no cost.


Life Insurance

Employees are eligible to purchase Basic Life Insurance Coverage at one and one-half times basic annual earnings.  Supplemental coverage is also available at an additional cost.   


Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance coverage is provided at no cost to all eligible employees while on company business.  Supplemental coverage is also available at an additional cost 


In-Hospital Expense Plan

The In-Hospital Expense Plan provides you and your family with benefit coverage in the event of hospitalization. This plan can pay you a certain fixed amount of money each day you or, if you elect coverage for them, your spouse or children are hospitalized.


401(K) Retirement Savings Plan

You are eligible to participate in the Plan if you are at least twenty-one (21) years of age and you have worked a minimum of 250 hours in your first three (3) months of employment, or 1,000 hours by the end of the plan year.

Carter's, Inc. may match some of your contributions in an amount to be determined by the Company. The amount will be dependent on the Company's achievement of its financial performance objectives and is, therefore, discretionary and is not guaranteed. You must be actively employed on the last day of the Plan Year to be eligible for the employer discretionary match on elective contributions.

All funds that you contribute and any matching contribution are immediately vested.


529 College Savings Plan

Carter's offers the CollegeBoundfund 529 College Savings Plan, which allows employees to save for college education - their own, family members, or a friend - through payroll deduction.


Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account

Carter's helps employees save on their eligible dependant care expenses through the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA). DCFSA payroll deductions are free from federal, state and Social Security taxes. You then use the tax-free money for reimbursement of qualified dependent care expenses.


Health Care Flexible Spending Account

The HCFSA will cover you, your spouse, and your eligible dependents. The annual maximum election allowed is $3,000. Health care expenses eligible for reimbursement through the HCFSA are those that are not covered or payable through group insurance and are allowed by the IRS.


Tuition Assistance Program

The Tuition Assistance Program reimburses you 50% or 75% of your tuition and book expenses for undergraduate and graduate course work upon satisfactory completion of approved courses. These plans of study should be related to the employees' current position or future growth.  The percentage of reimbursement is based on whether the course is related to your job responsibilities.


Adoption Assistance Program

Eligible employees may receive up to two weeks of time off with pay upon assuming custody of a child and up to $3,000 reimbursement for qualified adoption expenses.


Merchandise Discounts

Eligible employees are eligible for a 25% discount on purchases made at Carter's and Oshkosh retail stores.


New Parent Benefits

This benefit provides: 100% paid medical leave for childbirth, 100% of hospital expenses related to childbirth covered by our medical plans, two weeks of paid paternity leave, $500 contribution to the company sponsored 529 college savings plan and a layette gift with Carter's and Oshkosh core product.
